Ex-Mass. Speaker DiMasi Convicted In Corruption Case

Law360, New York (June 15, 2011, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi was found guilty Wednesday of taking thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for helping two software companies score multimillion-dollar government contracts.

The Democrat was convicted of conspiracy, six of eight counts of honest services mail and wire fraud, and one count of extortion. He will face up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 18.
