Dow Loses Bid To Alter FTC Deal Over $19B Merger

Law360, New York (June 15, 2011, 5:46 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday denied an effort by Dow Chemical Co. to change a 2009 settlement it made with the agency regarding its $18.8 billion merger with Rohm and Haas Co.

The settlement, which allowed Dow to go forward with the merger without fear of violating antitrust laws, required the company sell its latex polymers plant in Torrance, Calif.
