GSK Sues Roxane, Watson Over Generic Avodart

Law360, New York (June 20, 2011, 1:16 PM EDT) -- GlaxoSmithKline LLC slapped Roxane Laboratories Inc. and Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. with a lawsuit in Delaware federal court on Friday in an effort to prevent the companies from manufacturing their own versions of prostate enlargement drug Avodart.

GSK launched the suit in response to abbreviated new drug applications the generic-drug makers filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to sell generic dutasteride capsules, which the plaintiff markets as Avodart.
