Anadarko Investor Suit Over BP Spill Gets The Boot

Law360, New York (June 22, 2011, 7:36 PM EDT) -- A Texas state judge on Monday tossed an Anadarko Petroleum Corp. shareholder's suit against the oil and gas company's officers and directors over potential liability for the Deepwater Horizon spill.

The shareholder — a family trust — had requested exemption from a requirement that it ask the board to file derivative claims before being allowed to bring its own suit. The trust argued that such a requirement would be futile due to board members' liability over the oil spill.
