Gabon FCPA Defense Attys Blast Informant At Closing

Law360, Washington (June 23, 2011, 7:14 PM EDT) -- Attorneys for four military equipment industry executives accused of bribing Gabon officials to win contracts took their final shots at the prosecution’s top informant as the trial closed in Washington on Thursday, alleging he was unsavory and unreliable.

Defendant John Wier III’s attorney Todd Foster described Richard Bistrong, who helped carry out the FBI’s sting operation against the accused in exchange for leniency for his own past bribery crimes, as a movie star, industry icon, sociopathic liar and criminal genius.
