Judge Axes Claims From Sears Defective Sprinkler Suit

Law360, New York (June 24, 2011, 3:36 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Thursday dismissed two defendants and trimmed claims from Sears Roebuck & Co.'s lawsuit against Tyco Fire Products LP, a contractor and others over fire sprinklers that inadvertently activated at Sears' stores across the country.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman threw out some of the negligence and strict liability claims against Tyco and contractor SimplexGrinnell LP, a Tyco company that installs and services sprinkler heads.
