Alaskan City Accused Of Flood Of Wastewater Violations

Law360, New York (June 24, 2011, 7:37 PM ET) -- The U.S. accused Unalaska, Alaska, on Thursday of thousands of violations of limits to discharges from its wastewater treatment plant.

The federal government says the city has consistently violated a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-issued national pollutant discharge elimination system permit by dumping excessive levels of waste into the Unalaska Bay, which is part of the Pacific Ocean.

The suit comes after Unalaska and the U.S. Department of Defense in March settled claims and counterclaims over polychlorinated biphenyl pollution at a former military site in the city....
