Calif. Contractor Gets 4 Years For Labor Scheme

Law360, New York (June 27, 2011, 6:45 PM EDT) -- A public works contractor in California has been sentenced to four years in prison and $1.2 million in restitution for insurance fraud and labor violations, the state's insurance commissioner said Friday.

Monica Mui Ung, 51, pled guilty in Alameda County Superior Court to conspiring to misrepresent the payroll and job classifications of 70 employees to avoid paying workers compensation premiums, according to state Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.
