Oversight Still Deficient In Afghanistan Contracts: GAO

Law360, New York (June 30, 2011, 8:07 PM EDT) -- Contracting officer representatives in Afghanistan remain unprepared to oversee contracting activities despite efforts by the U.S. Department of Defense and other agencies to improve training and provide better guidance, the Government Accountability Office said in a report released Thursday.

The study was the latest of a series of government and independent reports released this year criticizing a lack of accountability and oversight and highlighting waste and corruption in Afghanistan war contracting.
