Judge Tosses $15M Patent Win For Transocean

Law360, New York (July 01, 2011, 3:30 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge on Thursday nixed a verdict holding that Maersk Contractors USA Inc. infringed two offshore drilling patents held by Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. and awarding $15 million in damages.

Transocean filed suit in July 2007 claiming Maersk infringed its technology by entering a contract to manufacture a drilling rig for Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC that used design elements covered by the patents.
