ITC Takes Up Honeywell GPS Patent Complaint

Law360, New York (July 1, 2011, 2:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission voted Friday to investigate a complaint by Honeywell International Inc. that Japan-based Furuno Electric Co. Ltd. is infringing patents for GPS technology.

The ITC said it would set a target date for completing the investigation within 45 days.

Honeywell filed its ITC complaint on June 6, claiming Furuno's GPS products for boats — including the Satellite Compass, NavNet 3D and MaxSea Software — infringe four patents.
