High Court Curbs Class Actions But Broadens Retaliation

Law360, New York (July 05, 2011, 7:22 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court's most significant employment law rulings this term have made it easier for employers to avoid class actions, but the high court's decisions could also leave employers vulnerable to an increase in retaliation suits, attorneys say.

“On the big structural issues, employers got big wins, but on the more detailed kinds of issues, plaintiffs managed to prevail,” Winston & Strawn LLP partner Gregory Jacob told Law360 in summing up the term.
