Cofepp Rum Maker Buy Sparks French Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (July 5, 2011, 2:26 PM EDT) -- Citing concerns about reduced competition, French antitrust authorities said Tuesday they would open an investigation into Compagnie Financiere Europeenne De Prises De Participation SA's proposed takeover of rum maker Quartier Francais Spiritueux from Tereos Group.

Tereos Group said in June 2010 it planned to sell Quartier Francais Spiritueux — the spirits division of Quartier Francais — as part of its takeover of Societe Sucriere de Quartier Francais, the main holding company of Quartier Francais Group.
