DOD Audit Reveals Weaknesses In Kuwait Contracts

Law360, New York (July 5, 2011, 4:34 PM EDT) -- Poor management of U.S. Army contracts for support of military bases in Kuwait contributed to ballooning costs and weak accountability for military property, according to a U.S. Department of Defense audit published Thursday.

The audit found that the Army Contracting Command at Rock Island, Ill., did not push for fixed-price contracts, failed to frequently update contract requirements to match changing troop levels, and failed to ensure an adequate method of tracking the location of sensitive and expensive equipment.
