Judge Invalidates Card Activation's Patent

Law360, New York (July 7, 2011, 8:38 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in Delaware entered final judgment Thursday that a patent for debit card technology asserted by Card Activation Technologies Inc. against numerous major retailers was invalid as anticipated.

U.S. Circuit Judge Kent A. Jordan of the Third Circuit, sitting by designation in the District of Delaware, entered his final ruling in the declaratory judgment suit filed by Stored Value Solutions Inc. against Card Activation, after he granted Stored Value's motion for summary judgment of invalidity July 1.
