Apple Hits Samsung With ITC Suit In Smartphone IP Row

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 7:12 PM EDT) -- In the latest twist in Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s battle for dominance over smartphone technology, Apple lodged a complaint in the U.S. International Trade Commission on Tuesday accusing Samsung's products of infringing seven patents.

The complaint, which urges the ITC to institute a Section 337 investigation, alleges that South Korea-based Samsung has imported for sale smartphones and tablet computers, including those in the Galaxy line, that infringe Apple's utility and design patents.
