AAI Urges Antitrust Probe Of $4.5B Nortel Patent Deal

Law360, New York (July 06, 2011, 3:09 PM ET) -- The American Antitrust Institute urged U.S. regulators Wednesday to probe the pending $4.5 billion purchase of bankrupt Nortel Networks Corp.'s coveted patent portfolio by a consortium of tech giants including Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Sony Corp.

The group emerged late last week as the winning bidder for the massive patent portfolio owned by Canada's Nortel, with a $4.5 billion cash offer made under the name Rockstar Bidco LLP.
