IP Litigation Takes Off In First Half Of 2011

Law360, San Diego (July 6, 2011, 5:37 PM EDT) -- Intellectual property suits were on the rise in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2010, with copyright litigation showing the strongest growth.

Even though litigation across practice areas only nudged upward by about 1.3 percent, litigants initiated 4,872 patent, copyright and trademark cases in U.S. federal courts within the last six months, up from 4,317 cases — nearly 13 percent — in the first half of 2010, according to Pacer court records.
