Blockbuster Reasserts Right To Protective Order

Law360, New York (May 25, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Blockbuster Inc. has defended its right to protect certain communications with its lawyers about the invalidity of Netflix’s patents after coming under fire from its rival in the movie rental service business.

Blockbuster reasserted on Friday that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California should give Blockbuster and its trial counsel, Alschuler Grossman and Shearman & Sterling, a protective order that would release them from the obligation to answer any questions or produce any documents about the invalidity of its rival’s patents....
