DOJ Antitrust Chief Varney Leaving To Join Cravath

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 5:58 PM EDT) -- U.S. Department of Justice antitrust chief Christine Varney will step down next month to join Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP after more than two years in the post, representatives for the firm confirmed late Wednesday.

Varney — who heads the DOJ's Antitrust Division — will join mergers and acquisition heavyweight Cravath where she will work on antitrust issues related to transactions. Varney said in a statement Wednesday she planned to leave the agency Aug. 5.
