Atmel Hits Infineon With Chip Patent Counterclaims

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 9:47 PM EDT) -- Atmel Corp. on Tuesday hit rival Infineon Technologies AG with counterclaims in Delaware federal court, alleging that three of Infineon's microcontrollers infringe six Atmel patents.

San Jose, Calif.-based Atmel said in a statement that the suit was a rejoinder to a lawsuit filed by German semiconductor maker Infineon in April that alleges two of Atmel's microcontrollers — small computer chips used in industrial, communications, automotive and other products — infringe 11 Infineon patents.
