Judge Trims Piracy Suit By Disney, Others V. Hotfile

Law360, Los Angeles (July 08, 2011, 9:31 PM ET) -- A Florida federal judge ruled Friday that Disney Enterprises and others failed to show Hotfile Corp. willfully uploaded copyrighted material to its file sharing site, nixing a direct infringement claim in a suit alleging it pirated thousands of TV shows and movies.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan is a blow to the suit by Disney, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and other media giants claiming Hotfile and its director Anton Titov infringed copyrighted material by allowing users to download files from the site....
