Obama Directs Independent Agencies To Overhaul Rules

Law360, New York (July 11, 2011, 6:41 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama issued an executive order Monday that extended to independent agencies a January directive aimed at streamlining proposed regulations that might hinder job growth and eliminating unnecessary regulations that burden small businesses.

The executive order asks independent agencies to develop and release to the public within 120 days their plans for conducting a periodic review of existing significant regulations in order to “determine whether any such regulations should be modified, streamlined, expanded or repealed so as to make the agency's regulatory program more effective...
