Ex-Teva Scientist Testifies In Copaxone Patent Battle

Law360, New York (July 11, 2011, 6:39 PM EDT) -- A former Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. scientist testified Monday in New York that the company uncovered safety concerns as it was developing multiple sclerosis drug Copaxone, necessitating patents that generics makers have challenged in court.

Irit Pinchasi, a former research and development executive at the drugmaker, took the stand as the first witness in a trial over Sandoz Inc. and Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s allegations that Teva engaged in inequitable conduct when it sought its Copaxone patents.
