Cordis Gets New Stent Patent, Sues Abbott

Law360, New York (May 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a move that could impede Abbott Laboratories' efforts to become the third company selling drug-eluting coronary stents in the United States, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary has filed a lawsuit accusing Abbott of infringing a patent that was issued Tuesday.

Cordis Corp. filed the lawsuit against Abbott Laboratories on Tuesday in federal court in New Jersey, arguing that Abbott committed patent infringement by making the Xience V coronary stent in the U.S. for sale in Europe and Asia.
