Dean Settles Dairy Farmers' Antitrust Suit For $140M

Law360, New York (July 12, 2011, 10:14 PM ET) -- Dean Foods Co. on Tuesday reached a $140 million settlement in Tennessee with a class of dairy farmers that filed an antitrust lawsuit accusing the company and others of conspiring to artificially depress the purchase price of milk.

The Dallas-based company agreed to make an initial $60 million payment, followed by annual payments of $20 million for the next four years, to settle claims that Dean and other companies refused to compete for the farmers' raw grade-A milk.
