SEC Needs To Better Document Ethics Advice: GAO

Law360, New York (July 13, 2011, 1:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission must do a better job of tracking the ethical advice it gives to those who leave the agency to work for law firms and other private-sector companies, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said Tuesday.

While the agency advises employees heading to the private sector on conflicts of interest they might encounter in their new roles, the SEC should do more to document the ethics-related advice it gives to employees who move to SEC-regulated entities, according to the GAO report....
