EU To Probe State Aid To BMW, VW, Airports

Law360, New York (July 13, 2011, 4:57 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog opened probes Wednesday into €130 million ($184 million) in state aid for BMW Group and Volkswagen AG projects in eastern Germany, and said it would also investigate aid to airports in France and Germany.

The European Commission plans to examine whether the various measures are in line with EU rules designed to keep public funding and other aid from distorting competition.
