Sony's Blu-Ray Technology Targeted For Infringement

Law360, New York (May 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Canadian cryptography technology company filed suit against Sony Corp. and six of its subsidiaries Wednesday, claiming that the Blu-ray technology found in many Sony products infringes two encryption patents.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Certicom Corp. alleged that numerous Sony products, including Blu-ray Discs and players; Blu-ray rewritable drives for computers; PlayStation 3 consoles and software sold on Blu-ray Discs; computers; televisions; CD players; and movies sold on Blu-ray Discs, infringe its patents.
