Judge Tosses Deceptive Practices Claim In Seroquel Suit

Law360, New York (July 19, 2011, 7:13 PM ET) -- The Arkansas Attorney General's Office said Tuesday that a state judge has nixed its claim that AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals engaged in deceptive trade practices while marketing its schizophrenia and biopolar disorder drug Seroquel.

Circuit Judge Chris Piazza also scheduled a September 2012 trial for the state's other claim — that AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals deceived the state into buying Seroquel for Medicaid patients by concealing health risks associated with the drug, according to Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel spokesman Aaron Sadler.
