9th Circ. Urged To Rehear Cable Bundling Class Action

Law360, Los Angeles (July 19, 2011, 9:20 PM EDT) -- Parents Television Council and seven other nonprofits filed an amicus brief Monday asking the Ninth Circuit to reconsider a June dismissal of an antitrust class action against television programmers and pay-TV providers over cable channel bundling.

Headed by PTC, which advocates against graphic sex, violence and profanity in entertainment, the groups urged the appeals court to rehear the case by panel or en banc, arguing that last month’s decision rested on a misunderstanding of the Sherman Act and was “unacceptable to it morally and legally.”...
