Amazon Not Required To Remove InStyler Fakes: Judge

Law360, Los Angeles (July 20, 2011, 9:55 PM ET) -- A California judge on Wednesday ruled that Amazon.com Inc. could not be forced to remove counterfeiters selling knockoff InStyler curling irons from its marketplace website, supporting the company's contention that it could not be required to police its own site.

Judge Richard E. Rico denied curling iron maker Tre Milano LLC's request for a preliminary injunction which, if granted, would have forced Amazon to remove all advertisements for the InStyler curling iron and all knockoffs from its marketplace site.
