Groupon, Others Sued Over Wireless Tech Patent

Law360, New York (July 21, 2011, 5:37 PM EDT) -- SellerBid Inc. hit Groupon Inc., LivingSocial Inc. and two other websites with a lawsuit Thursday in Virginia federal court alleging they infringed patents covering technology that allows for the secure selling of group transactions over a wireless server.

The Arlington, Va.-based plaintiff accuses Groupon and LivingSocial, along with BuyWithMe Inc. and OpenTable Inc., of two counts of patent infringement, saying the companies have violated U.S. Patent Numbers 7,647,024 and 7,983,616.
