Massey Sued By Respirator Co. In Black Lung Fight

Law360, New York (July 21, 2011, 5:21 PM ET) -- A respirator manufacturer reportedly filed suit against Massey Energy Co.’s successor in West Virginia state court Wednesday, arguing the company should be held liable for diseases miners claim were caused by defective breathing devices.

Mine Safety Appliances Co. alleges Massey’s negligence — not MSA's respirators — exposed miners to coal dust that caused them to develop black lung disease, according to the Charleston Gazette.
