MidAmerican Energy, City Agree To Pay $4.6M

Law360, New York (June 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- MidAmerican Energy Company and a small city in Iowa have agreed to pay $4.6 million to settle government claims that they are responsible for cleanup of hazardous substances that came from the LeMars Coal Gas Superfund Site.

The settlement, announced Friday by the U.S. Department of Justice on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern Illinois on the same day a civil complaint was filed.
