Google Tries To Nix SourceProse Mobile Map IP

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 7:51 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. went on the offensive Tuesday against SourceProse Inc., asking a Texas federal court to declare that two patents that relate to viewing maps on cellphones — and which SourceProse asserted against five cellphone carriers in February — are invalid.

The declaratory judgment complaint says the suit was necessary because SourceProse sued AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., MetroPCS Communications Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp. and T-Mobile USA Inc. in February, alleging infringement of the two patents.
