SunGard Fails To Shake Trading Software IP Row

Law360, New York (July 27, 2011, 2:24 PM ET) -- An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday denied SunGard Data Systems Inc.'s motion for summary judgment in a Trading Technologies International Inc. suit accusing it and several affiliates of infringing commodity trading software, saying a preclusion against claim-splitting did not apply.

SunGard, along with SunGard Investment Ventures LLC, FuturePath Trading LLC and GL Trade Americas Inc., had argued that the suit, filed in 2010, improperly split claims over two patents that should have been brought in earlier patent litigation filed in 2005.
