Law360, New York (July 27, 2011, 1:08 PM ET) -- Citibank NA on Tuesday in New York denounced a $430 million lawsuit against it from the trustee liquidating Bernard L. Madoff’s firm, saying it had no reason to suspect Madoff was running a massive Ponzi scheme.
The bank wants U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton Lifland to dismiss trustee Irving Picard’s clawback action because it relies wholly on hindsight and fails to adequately allege that the bank acted in bad faith by receiving transfers from Madoff’s feeder funds, according to Citibank.
