Studios Win Bid To Blockade Movie Pirates In UK Suit

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 4:31 PM EDT) -- A group of Hollywood studios convinced a British judge on Thursday to rule that British Telecommunications PLC must block its subscribers from accessing a website that provides pirated movies, marking a victory for content owners in the U.K. test case.

High Court Justice Arnold decided that BT, the U.K.'s largest Internet service provider, must cut off access to Newzbin2, a Usenet-based website that allows members to pay a fee to download content, mostly movies and other copyrighted works.
