Court Denies Acquittal Bids In Ala. Corruption Trial

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 3:47 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in Alabama on Thursday refused to acquit the state senators, lobbyists and casino owner accused of buying and selling votes in order to pass pro-gambling legislation.

U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson turned aside acquittal motions from the nine defendants but invited them to again address the claimed deficiencies of the criminal case after certain defendants have had the chance to present their evidence.
