US Must Make Towns Want Nuke Dumps: Panel

Law360, New York (July 29, 2011, 4:07 PM EDT) -- The federal government must find a way to encourage communities to volunteer to host a nuclear waste dump if it wants to solve the growing problem of where to put spent nuclear fuel, a presidential panel said in a report released Friday.

The draft report details several recommendations by the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future, which was tasked with finding ways for the U.S. to deal with spent fuel now that the long-planned Yucca Mountain depository has been axed.
