Williams & Connolly Attys Dodge Sanctions In Milk MDL

Law360, New York (August 1, 2011, 12:28 PM EDT) -- A Tennessee federal judge refused Friday to sanction Williams & Connolly LLP and other defense attorneys for the Dairy Farmers of America despite claims from plaintiffs in the milk multidistrict antitrust litigation that the defendants improperly contacted putative class members.

A day after nixing a subclass of DFA members in the case, U.S. District Judge J. Ronnie Greer ruled that the defendants' efforts in support of their decertification request were not a "thinly disguised" bid to convince farmers to opt out of the litigation.
