Law360, New York (August 02, 2011, 11:44 AM ET) -- Kirin Holdings Co. said Tuesday it had bought a majority stake in Brazilian beverage maker Schincariol Participacoes e Representacoes SA in a $2.5 billion deal that gives the Tokyo brewing giant a major presence in South America.
Working with Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc., Kirin said it would use cash and debt to buy all shares of Aleadri-Schinni Participacoes e Representacoes SA, a company controlled by Alexandre and Adriano Shincariol holding a 50.45 percent stake in Sao Paulo-based Schincariol.
The purchase was completed Tuesday, Kirin said....
