R&L Takes Qualcomm Patent Claims To Fed. Circ.

Law360, Washington (August 03, 2011, 7:09 PM ET) -- Trucking giant R&L Carriers Inc. tried to persuade the Federal Circuit on Wednesday to revive its wireless document patent infringement claims against Qualcomm Inc. and various other companies, saying the district court had wrongly ruled that its pleadings did not meet the Twombly standard.

R&L's suit, filed in June 2009, claims Qualcomm's OmniTracs product, a satellite-based commercial mobile system for the transportation industry, integrates with “other back-office systems” to perform a process that infringes R&L's U.S. Patent No. 6,401,078. In July 2010 an Ohio federal judge...
