PCTEL, 3Com Settle Modem Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (November 26, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- High-tech rivals PCTEL and 3COM, which have been trading complaints in federal court in Northern California in a dispute over patented modem technology, have settled their lawsuits with a cross-licensing agreement, the two companies said.

Under the settlement agreement, each company will receive a license to the other's modem technology patents that were asserted in the litigation, according to a joint statement released by the two companies.

Following the settlement, PCTEL will reverse the $3.2 million of accrued royalties related to 3COM's patent infringement claims. While...
