Firms To Spend $600M On Biz Dev In 2011

Law360, New York (August 8, 2011, 12:09 PM EDT) -- Law firms are spending the bulk of their marketing dollars on business development initiatives, focusing especially on proactive ways to win and keep clients, according to a new report.

The 200 largest law firms are devoting about a third of their marketing budgets to business development, according to the Benchmarking Law Firm Marketing and Business Development Strategies 2011 report from The BTI Consulting Group Inc. (Wellesley, Mass.). Business development encompasses activities like developing client relationships, training sales and client services staff, and hiring consultants.
