US Asks Judge To Approve $37B Comcast-NBC Merger

Law360, Los Angeles (August 5, 2011, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice urged a District of Columbia federal judge Friday to approve the federal government’s antitrust settlement clearing Comcast Corp.’s $37 billion acquisition of NBC Universal Inc. from General Electric Co.

In a supplemental statement, government attorneys targeted the concerns of U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, who reportedly took issue at a June 27 hearing with the nonappealability of arbitration terms available to online content companies that seek to dispute Comcast’s program-licensing activities.
