Dutch Competition Regulator Holds KPN, Caiway Deal

Law360, New York (August 8, 2011, 7:25 PM EDT) -- The Netherlands' antitrust regulator on Monday put on hold Royal KPN NV's planned acquisition of CAIW Holding BV, saying the deal could limit competition in the cable network sector, and called for more research.

Following an investigation, the NMa, the Dutch competition authority, said KPN must request formal permission to move ahead with its plans to take over the company due to concerns that the deal would significantly reduce competition among cable providers in the western part of the country.
