Judge Trims Asarco Suit Over $150M Superfund Payout

Law360, New York (August 09, 2011, 12:49 PM ET) -- A Missouri federal judge on Monday tossed one of two remaining claims in mining company Asarco LLC's suit demanding contributions from Halliburton Co., U.S. Steel Corp. and others for a $150 million Superfund settlement.

In addition to Halliburton and U.S. Steel, the suit targets BNSF Railway Co., DuPont Co., Sunoco Inc., Kellogg Brown and Root LLC, Doe Run Resources Corp., NL Industries Inc., Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., Amax Environmental Services, and Cyprus Amax Minerals Co.
