Philip Morris To Pay $12.8M In Wrongful Death Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 9, 2011, 9:37 PM EDT) -- A California jury on Tuesday ordered Philip Morris USA Inc. to pay $12.8 million in compensatory damages to the son of a man who died of lung cancer after smoking Marlboro cigarettes for nearly his entire life.

The Los Angeles jury deliberated for about a day before delivering its award intended to recoup Dylan Boeken for the loss of his father's love, guidance and affection.
